First - I Set Some Goals

I really don't know why I think I'm going to be able to get anything accomplished when I can barely keep my eyes open past 9pm (thanks to my little one going through a growth spurt and keeping me up most of the night all week), but I have to start somewhere.  It seems prudent to write down a few goals, so that my success (or failure?) can be measured.  For now, I want to make some tiny goals that will be easily accomplished, and will therefore reinforce the behavior (I didn't get a BA in Psychology for nothing!).

Goal #1: Stop leaving clothes/towels/etc. on the bathroom floor.
Goal #2: Create a space in my basement "office" for my Tupperware inventory. Currently it is living on my dining room table, which is making it difficult to eat there.
Goal #3: Pick out my clothes and lay them out before bed. My mornings are so hectic, maybe this will help a bit.

I will work on these three things and report back.  I'd love to hear your suggestions for small goals that I should consider once these have been tackled!

I May Have Failed Home Ec...

I've never been good at "keeping house".  Cleaning is low on my list of priorities, and has sunk even lower now that I have a baby.  Why would I clean the bathtub if I could blow raspberries on my daughter's tummy instead?  Why would I fold laundry when I could snuggle with her on the couch and watch Jeopardy?

Well, I've come to realize that my messy house is contributing directly to my level of sanity.  I can't find anything when I want it, I step on things in the middle of the night when I'm trying to be quiet and not wake the baby up again, and I keep double booking appointments because I forget to write them down.  My life is begging me to clean up my act, and my home.  This blog will be what will keep me working toward my goal of easy, low maintenance home care.

Now, please don't assume that I am some giant slob with a hoarding problem and 23 cats.  It's not that bad; I only have two cats :)  I can have people over any time - just as soon as I pick up all the clutter and throw it in the spare bedroom.  I can cook dinner, as soon as I put the dishes in the dishwasher and wipe down the counters.  I'd like to get to a point where those things are already done, and I don't have to think about them.

Stay tuned for my thoughts on Time Management, Organization, Work Life Balance, Time Saving Ideas, and whatever else seems fitting.  I'm excited for this new turn!
